What could your company offer South Korean customers together with the right partners?
We’re inviting companies from Estonia, Finland and Latvia to combine their expertise and develop new business opportunities in sustainable construction.
BuildGreen Korea helps companies connect with Korean stakeholders and develop joint offers around local customer needs. Your contribution could be a material, a building system, design expertise, a digital service or the know-how to deliver a complete solution.
Our first company workshops explored how different capabilities could come together. In October, the project team took these ideas to Korea, meeting developers, contractors, architects and industry networks. These conversations brought new opportunities and contacts into the process.
Now we’re inviting more companies to shape the next steps. The opportunities below provide starting points for discussion. They can evolve, connect with one another or inspire new concepts as companies and Korean partners develop them together. Your own ideas are welcome.
Express your interest in an opportunity below or tell us what else you would like to explore. We will invite you to a relevant workshop in late 2026 and early 2027.
Workshops will be held in English, and participation does not commit your company to further cooperation.
01 Timber Housing
Develop a model that can grow beyond the first project
Korean housing cooperative Commons and contractor Bomi are looking to develop commercially viable timber apartment construction. Their ambition is to use their current project as a reference and build a wider market.
Our visit to the site, where Stora Enso and Sweco Finland are already involved, opened discussions about further company cooperation.
The opportunity is to combine European timber expertise with Korean development and construction capabilities. A joint offer could bring together the building system, engineering, components and delivery expertise needed for a future housing project.
Where could your company fit? Timber structures and components, architectural or structural design, fire and acoustic solutions, manufacturing, installation, logistics or cost planning.
Together, we would explore a suitable building concept, the partners needed to deliver it and how to meet Korean performance requirements at a competitive total cost.

02 Buildings and Robotics
Bring construction expertise and emerging technology into one demonstration
Discussions with Korean organisations introduced a planned demonstration building designed to support robots moving and operating within it. Timber panels, modular systems or hybrid construction could provide the physical setting for robotics and digital technologies to work together.
This offers a potential use case for companies that want to demonstrate how their solutions perform as part of a building or construction process. The discussions involved Offsite Modular Association, Korea Wood Construction Association, buildingSMART Korea and M3 Systems. The project and possible European participation are still being developed.
Where could your company fit? Prefabricated building systems, engineering, BIM, digital coordination, production planning, automation, robotics, installation or system integration.
Together, we would explore which combination of building and technology solutions would add value, how they could work together and what a joint demonstration would require.

03 Baltic Sauna Experience
Combine design, construction and sauna expertise into a complete concept
Baltic sauna culture attracted strong interest during the visit. A meeting with the founder of the Korean sauna association highlighted business opportunities around an emerging interest in sauna experiences, including among younger audiences.
For construction and design companies, this creates a starting point for a joint concept that brings together the space, materials, technology and knowledge needed to deliver an authentic sauna experience.
Potential applications could range from standalone saunas to hospitality and wellness settings. The next step is to understand which customers and locations offer the strongest opportunity.
Where could your company fit? Sauna design and manufacturing, timber or modular structures, heaters, ventilation, interiors, building services, experience design or hospitality expertise.
Together, we would explore a distinctive sauna concept adapted to Korean customers, the companies needed to deliver it and suitable local development or operating partners.

What else could we develop together?
Bring another idea or find a connection between themes
Earlier company workshops generated ideas that remain open for development:
-
Living and hospitality: combining architecture, interiors, buildings and services for senior living, accommodation and wellbeing.
-
Design-to-delivery solutions: connecting building products to digital configuration, cost and carbon estimates, manufacturing and delivery.
-
Low-carbon building packages: combining materials, energy expertise and environmental assessment.
-
Adaptable buildings and lifecycle services: supporting changing uses, building reuse, monitoring and maintenance.
The Korean visit also highlighted possible applications in prefabricated renovation and smaller buildings such as schools, kindergartens and elderly care facilities.
Your expertise may connect several of these ideas, strengthen one of the opportunities above or point towards a different customer need. Tell us what you see.

From an opportunity to joint offer
Combine design, construction and sauna expertise into a complete concept
A joint offer gives a customer a clear solution built from complementary companies’ products and expertise. Through the workshops, we will define who the customer is, what they need, how the solution creates value and how the participating companies could deliver it.
We are now moving from initial ideas and Korean discussions into focused development with companies.
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Now — late 2026 | Express your interest and join a thematic workshop. We will explore customer needs, possible solutions and company roles. |
| Late 2026–early 2027 | Groups choosing to continue will develop their joint offer, delivery approach and supporting materials. Selected concepts are intended to receive a digital demonstration. |
| February 2027 — planned | Present concepts and gather Korean feedback through a company delegation and activities being prepared around KOREA BUILD. |
| Spring 2027 onwards | Refine the offers and pursue next steps with potential customers and partners. The wider project continues until April 2029. |
BuildGreen Korea supports this work through facilitated development, market insight, training and connections with Korean stakeholders. Depending on the needs of the emerging offers and the project’s conditions, support may also include local testing and activities to demonstrate solutions.
Participating companies contribute their expertise, product information, references and time to develop the commercial opportunity together.
Bring your expertise and your ambition!
You do not need a complete export concept to join. Tell us what interests you, what your company could contribute and what you would like to achieve.
All interested companies will be invited to a relevant workshop in late 2026.
Workshops will be held in English, and participation does not commit your company to further cooperation.
